Questions

Frequently asked

I lost my recovery phrase. Can you recover my data?

We're sorry, but no. Your content is end-to-end encrypted with keys we never have, so we can't recover it for you. That is what keeps it private.

If you are still signed in on a phone, open More → Settings and tap Show recovery phrase, then write it down and keep it somewhere safe. If you've lost both your phrase and your password, the data can't be recovered by anyone.

I got a new phone. How do I get my space back?

Install Intimacy on the new phone, sign in with your email and password, and enter your 24-word recovery phrase when asked. Your space is restored and everything decrypts on the new phone.

How do I unpair?

Go to More → Settings and tap Unpair and delete everything, then type UNPAIR to confirm. Either partner can do this at any time. It permanently erases all shared content for both of you and can't be undone.

How do I sign in with my fingerprint or face?

Go to More → Settings and turn on Biometric sign in. You'll confirm your password once, then your fingerprint or face. Your password is stored encrypted on your phone, unlockable only by your phone's fingerprint or face check. Your biometric data never reaches the app or us.

If you add or change fingerprints or face data on your phone, you'll need to sign in with your password once and turn it on again.

Why are some photos blurred?

Photos and videos marked sensitive stay softly blurred until you tap the eye, so you can show someone the app without revealing anything private. Sensitive is the default for new photos and videos, and you can choose per item when uploading. Everything blurs again when you leave the app. More on sensitive items.

Why can't I take screenshots?

To protect what you and your partner share, screenshots and screen recording are blocked inside Intimacy on Android, and the app is hidden in the recent-apps view.

Is Intimacy free?

Yes. Intimacy is free during the alpha.

Can you see my photos?

No. Your photos, videos, notes, ideas, wishes and answers are encrypted on your phone before they are uploaded, with a key only you and your partner hold. Read the Privacy Policy for the details.

When is Intimacy coming to iPhone?

iOS is on the way. Intimacy is in private alpha on Android first.
